When you work for Sunrise Futures, you’ll notice how passionate and knowledgeable your colleagues are. In my time here, I have met so many people who know their work deeply, and it permeates throughout the company. After you start, there is ample room to find your niche, what you bring to the table, and grow from there. You’ll be able to learn a lot and expand on your skills through close inter-team collaboration. Basically, the sky is the limit.
Above all else, Sunrise will help foster a collaborative environment, where you can work closely with everyone else in the company. As you work, your paths with others may intersect, diverge, and rejoin; in the process you learn a lot about the work that other people do and have the opportunity to share your own knowledge. This extends between individuals and teams throughout the company – if there’s someone you need to talk to, it’s as simple as going up and asking them.
In my role on the technology team, working on our IT systems and infrastructure, I get to work on a lot of new projects and implement new ideas. I’m free to craft my own systems and put them into place, in collaboration with my other team members, of course. I’ve been able to use all of the knowledge I came into the company with and then some, learning about so many different things as I go along. Most of all, I like that I am at the ground level, creating and maintaining the platform and infrastructure that our work gets done on.
I started at Sunrise fresh out of college in a junior role. Coming from outside the industry, my head was spinning with all the new terminology, technology, and challenges to unravel. But with the help of my colleagues, I was able to unpack and wrap my head around everything and learn the ropes. Since then, I have gotten exposure to and worked with nearly every part of the organization. It has been a great opportunity to really expand my knowledge in diverse domains.

I enjoy all game night events, especially our poker tournaments (when I’m winning)
Outside of work I enjoy skiing, backpacking, golf, rock climbing and above all else traveling!
Creativity is key
In my experience, Sunrise has given me a lot of creative freedom which keeps me excited and interested in my work. With trading being such a demanding/competitive industry, I also think it’s a testament to the culture here that so many employees have worked here for 5 or 10+ years.
Fast paced and exciting
My role is very open ended and what I work on can change a lot from year to year.
I’ve been working at Sunrise since I graduated with a Computer Engineering degree from UIUC in 2019. I started by doing basic coding until my interest in trading was noticed and I got moved into strategy research. Since then I have grown my knowledge of the markets greatly and been able to see my ideas become real trading strategies.
